Being a very warm spring day, Max asked if he could play outside. In his new birthday clothes, he headed out the door. I called after him "Max, Don't. DO. NOT. play in the dirt! Okay?" In reply, he said "Okay. Only the mud!" Glad he clarified. Welcome to spring!!

Silly Kids!

I had Bria help me clean out the van. She said, "What are we cleaning the van for? Are we getting ready for a trip?" "No," I said. "It just really needs to be cleaned out." "Oh, I get it," she said. "We need to clean out the junk to make room for more junk!" SIGH!

In school, Bria learned no is spelled N-O. Instead of saying no, she now spells it out. "Bria will you clean your room? "N-O, mom." The other day, Max asked if she wanted to play. "N-O, Max. I don't want to play." In reply, Max said. "N-yes, Bria."

2009
I overheard the kids downstairs trying to clean. Bria - "Max, you have to clean your room. It's not good to have a messy room." Max - "But, Bria, sometimes I like my room messy." Bria - "Max, you can't get on Santa's good list if you have a messy room." Max - "Sometimes I clean my room and then I think it's so fun to mess it back up!"

A few days before starting kindergarten, Bria watched the Hannah Montana movie. As I was putting her to bed that night, she said "Mom, when I start kindergarten I'll be popular and wear fabulous clothes." I'm thinking we should tone down the Hannah Montana in our house for a while.

A couple of weeks before Logan was born, we packed our hospital bags. Every day after that, Max would ask "Where are we going today?" "Nowhere," I would say. Finally, one day he said in reply "but our stuff is ready, see? My sleeping bag and bag are packed." "Max, we have to wait for the baby to come before we can go." "Mom, maybe we should just leave without the baby." Umm....I don't think he totally got the point of the packed bags.

Mom - "Max, you're a good boy." Max - "And you good mama!"

Mom - (after about the 10th time out of bed) - "Max! It's time for bed! Mommy's tired! Mommy needs to go to sleep!" Max - "Max tired too! Mom, I'm calling myself Max." Mom - "I know - that's your name." Max - "Actually, my name Max David Webster"

Mom - "I love you!" Max - "And me too!" (such a boy!)

Bria - "There were a HUNDRED MILLION kids at our house!" "How long 'til we get there? A HUNDRED MILLION minutes?" "Is this going to take a HUNDRED MILLION days, mom?" (I guess she's just a big thinker!)

Mom - "Max, if you want to go outside, you need to be happy." Max (in a whimpering voice) - "You need to tickle me." Mom - "I need to tickle you? So you can be happy?" Max (again whimpering) - "Yes..." After he got tickled, he ran out of the room laughing. Who knew a kid could change their attitude so easily?!?

Max, in a dark bathroom trying to go potty - "Mom, you need to close the door!" He got up, closed the door, making the bathroom pitch black. From behind the door "Potty seat...where are you? Potty seat? Oh! There you are!"

Bria - "Max, you need mom to be here to take care of you. If mom weren't here, then I would have to take care of you and feed you. The only food I know how to make is sandwiches. You could only eat sandwiches!"

Max - "Oh, darn!"

Bria - "Can we ride the alligator?" (elevator)

Bria - "Is it time for Hamily Fome Evening?"

Max - "Me watch Ticklebell" (Tinkerbell)

Max - "This weird." (about everything)

Bria - "Mom, what is this book? It has all kinds of lines and colors" Mom - "Oh, that is an atlas. It is a book of maps." Bria - "Wow! I can see Albuquerque from here!"

Max - "Me grow up be big man like daddy!" Mom- "Are you a big man now?" Max - "No. Me strong boy!"

Bria - "I like all the rules of school, except one. I hate the wait rule." Mom- "What is the wait rule?" Bria - "It's the rule that I have to wait for my friend to get home from school so I can play with her!"
